“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.” Albert Einstein

Over the last ten years, I’ve been on a quest. I’m working on relinquishing fear and inviting more love into my thoughts, words and deeds. It’s an everyday, everywhere, everyone habit I’m still practicing.

Last weekend, while at a retreat for small business CEO’s, the discussion turned to the topic of how love correlates to profits. It was clear that a few people thought we would be jeopardizing the livelihood of our businesses if we made that naïve leap. That’s when I realized, just the word love itself has the potential to ignite the flames of fear and awaken the ego.

Love, which gives us access to the mind where true perception and discernment lives. Empathy. Collaboration. Understanding. Creativity. Passion. Innovation. Connection. Potential. Right action. Abundance.

Einstein called this our intuitive mind. Some call it our higher self or spirit.

Since that conversation I’ve been wondering…meditating…listening…for answers about how love has gotten such a bad rap while fear and the ego appear to be accepted realities. In fact, society even prefers to talk about the virtues of love in covert terms like emotional intelligence, consciousness or whole-heartedness. But today, I am going to come out of the closet and be a little more direct.

You see, today’s problems require some honest truth telling.

Love in action is the only hope we have of returning the ego to its rightful place – honoring and serving the eternal spirit and divinity that lives in everyone. We only have fear because we believe we are separate from each other, and from the connection we all have to that greater mind.

I can’t possibly tell you what to call it, but I can tell you it only creates and emanates love. Peace. Unconditional love.

But the ego doesn’t want the masses to return to love because the exodus from fear would eventually melt away the problems it created. We could move away from force to solve our problems, and use our inherent power to create. Without the ego in charge – this keeper of our wounds, false beliefs and unyielding desires – we would be without the need to project our self-judgment onto others. We might eradicate indifference. Rivalry. Separation. Illness. Hatred. Prejudice. Discrimination. Greed. Hunger. Genocide. War.

Profits?

I suspect love would put profits in their rightful place. And, we would remember that abundance is our birthright and an ever-present sacred gift meant as a means, not an end.

And, I’m still practicing.

I think most people would say that you can’t change the past. Well, what if I not only told you that this antiquated idea is false, but I could provide you with an experience so that you could form your own opinion?

The spark of inspiration for this unusual post came when I received a note from a client. She had lived with a traumatic school experience that had plagued her for over forty years, leaving her with shame and self-judgment. In her note, she thanked me for our recent session and remarked about the astonishing sense of freedom she was experiencing since releasing the negative emotion from that particular memory.

As I read that note, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. And yet, I quickly wondered, “Should I share her experience in my next blog? Is this the best way to convey the benefits and possibility of changing our perspective of the past?”

The surprising answer that popped into my head was, “No. Don’t tell them someone else’s story. Instead, give them their own experience!”

Are you feeling doubtful or wary that changing your past is even possible? I did, as well, when I only read about other people’s experiences. In fact, I fondly remember a time about eight years ago when I shared my own disbelief with a colleague. Instead of my colleague nodding and obligingly agreeing with me, she asked me if I’d ever experimented with any of the techniques. When I told her I hadn’t, she recommended that I might experience one of them before being so quick to judge. Ouch!

Needless to say, I entered a healing practitioner’s office a few days later feeling very angry at my boss for what I’ll call a “compensation injustice.” I was clear that this lingering negative emotion was getting in the way of my relationship with my manager and with my work, as well. And though I had been attempting to reframe and rationalize my emotions, I just hadn’t been able to let go of my anger and frustration. I thought this was the perfect experience to play with to prove that changing our past just can’t be that simple.

To my great surprise, in less than fifteen minutes of this transformative work, those emotions–which had been my constant companion for weeks on end–were gone. In the days that followed that appointment, I felt a sense of renewed commitment about my job. I was no longer resentful, and was able to show up and do my best work. I was so shocked by the shift that I even shared the experience with my manager.

Now I understand that we cannot only change our past memories, but when we do…we change our future as well. And I would like to share that possibility with you!

For this reason, this blog contains a link to an audio file for you to experience what I experienced first-hand. If you choose to take my invitation, I will be guiding you through a beautiful visualization that will allow you to release negative emotions from an old memory. I want to be clear that taking this invitation is not about changing your entire life with one simple release, but about providing you with an experience of what’s really possible in a step-by-step healing journey.

If you find yourself intrigued and interested, you’ll want to read the disclaimer and watch the instruction video below before you get started.

From there, find a quiet space and click on the audio file when you are ready to start your own healing process.

And, I would love to hear how it goes…from one skeptic to another.

Workshop Announcement:

Change Your Pictures, Change Your Life ℠

Seating Limited to Eight — Register Now!
Tuesday, May 21st
6:00 pm to 9:30 pm

Whether or not you already consider yourself successful, this workshop will confirm—with almost 100% certainty—that you have potential that lies dormant and untapped. We all do, which is why so many people struggle with change, and as a result, even the most talented can feel stuck in old habits, live with constant stress and recurring themes of disappointment, or battle to take focused and consistent action.

Does this sound like you or someone you know? If so, you’ll want to attend one of our upcoming workshop sessions being held in lower Queen Anne. The cost is just $30.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how everything you experience and create in your life—whether in the area of career, relationships, business, spirituality or health—is driven by the memories you hold in your mind as pictures. This might not sound too menacing until you understand:

Basic brain science explains why so many of our most significant pictures were installed through the lens of fear and self-preservation in our earliest years of life.

The unconscious mind has an organizing principle that uses these pictures to create false beliefs that keep even the most talented stuck in familiar patterns of unproductive thought, feeling and behavior.

The mind-body connection uses our false beliefs to dictate how we perceive, respond and navigate life’s circumstances, which is the culprit that cuts most people off from their full potential.

The Energetic body is deprived by these memories, which often impedes long-term results.

And yet, in this interactive and hands-on event, each participant will learn how to identify and uninstall those pictures, reconnecting them to more of their wholeness, innocence and spiritual perfection. You will leave feeling lighter, more excited about the future, and with the tools and resources to fuel change and transformation for years to come. In fact, come with an open mind and you’ll experience miracles!

Throughout Susan’s corporate career, she watched as her constituents struggled to embrace personal change—even while opportunities for greater happiness and success waited in the balance. When Susan finally admitted she suffered from many of the same symptoms, she decided to leave the corporate world in hopes of finding the real answers to lasting change. The answers to that important question would not only change her vocation, but also her life.
